Digestive & Gut Health 101

How’s your digestive & gut health? ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
Do you experience any of the following: ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
•gas ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
•bloating ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
•heartburn ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
•ulcers ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
•irregular bowel movements (Constipation & Diarrhea) ⠀⠀
•pain and cramping ⠀⠀
•upset stomach or nausea ⠀⠀⠀⠀
So many of us go every day with many of these symptoms and have actually accepted it as “normal”.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m here to tell you it’s not! I used to think being bloated every time I ate or a little gassy after a meal was normal.

Well guess what?! It’s not normal! & YOU DON’T HAVE TO FEEL THIS WAY! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What can cause digestive issues?⠀
•first is obvious, poor diet choices. Stick to real food everyone! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•not chewing you food enough, your mom said it, she was right!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•not drinking enough water⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•not eating enough fibre, fibre gets things moving, it pulls things “together” and it feeds the good bacteria in your gut ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•malabsorption of nutrients, low nutrient levels cause poor digestion and poor digestion causes malabsorption ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•food allergies & sensitivities, you may need to do an elimination diet if this is the cause for you
•stress, if your sympathetic nervous system is always in “flight or fight” mode, your body actually shuts down digestion ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•certain meds ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of the above will contribute to digestive issues and, I will be digging deeper into reasons why our digestion is off, in my next posts.
