How does CBD work and will it make me high?

how does CBD work? Will CBD get me high?

How does CBD work? Will CBD get make me high?

I'm asked this often, and when I first started using CBD, I heard it wouldn't, but I was still cautious.

I am here today to explain how CBD works and why you will NOT get high.

CBD is not psychoactive and does not produce a high

First, CBD on its own is not psychoactive as in mind-altering, but I know hearing this is not always enough to calm fears about trying it.

I want you to understand how it works!

CBD is a phytocannabinoid

CBD is a phytocannabinoid. Phyto as in plant. Our bodies produce cannabinoids called endocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids work in the body similar to our endocannabinoids. Our endocannabinoids work by binding to receptors in our body. These receptors are found on cells in our nervous system and connected to our immune response and reproductive system.

When I first started using CBD, I thought that CBD worked by connecting to these receptors. But guess what, it's the opposite!

This next part explains how it is impossible to get high from CBD, other than it does not contain any psychoactive constitutes.

CBD works with our endocannabinoid system

CBD works by blocking an enzyme we naturally produce that breaks down anandamide. We naturally make anandamide; it is an endocannabinoid. Remember, endocannabinoids are the cannabinoids we create ourselves.

CBD blocks this enzyme, allowing more of our own naturally produced anandamide to attach to the receptors in our endocannabinoid system.

And this, my friends, is why CBD is so fascinating!

CBD works by homeostasis

CBD works with our body's natural processes to bring about homeostasis. In other words, it assists the body in healing itself.

Now there is more to it, the endocannabinoid system is still a new finding, and we are learning more every day about it!

But, you will not get high when you use CBD, I promise!

Do note, some CBD products do contain THC, which is psychoactive, but if the CBD amount is higher than the THC amount, you will not get high. But that's for another post!

I have been using CBD from @northwellnesscbd.

I like that they are Canadian and that they are the only CBD brand that offers subsidized rates for those in need. Being able to afford CBD is a privilege; I am thankful for @northwellnesscbd and their assistance program, as I know many of my clients and followers have utilized it!

Being well does not have to be unattainable and shouldn't be.
